Winona Ryder Professionally Winona Ryder, was born in Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents after the town where she was raised. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors and editors. Ryder's father is from the Jewish family Ryder feels she's Jewish.
